Food truck ordinance designed to support Chicago small businesses

Throughout the nation, food trucks are the latest fad when it comes to fast food. Depending on the city in which one is located, the food is in some cases gourmet and is freshly prepared in the truck while patrons wait. Chicago is currently not one of the cities in which the food is prepared onsite however. At this point, there is a law on the books that makes it illegal for these small businesses to do so. Currently the food sold out of these trucks has to be prepared in a commissary or commercial kitchen that is not mobile.

City of Chicago seeks to attract startups

Throughout the United States, many entrepreneurs are interested in starting their own businesses in a variety of fields. Recognizing the demand is high in the Chicago area, recently, Mayor Rahm Emanuel threw his support behind making the city appealing to startups. This message regarding future business formation in the area was delivered during a visit he made to Techweek, which was being held at the Merchandise Mart. He was the opening keynote speaker.
